A website isn’t built with just tech — here’s what else matters

When people think about building a website, they often focus on the technical side: choosing a design, creating pages, adding images, and publishing everything online. But if you want a website that truly reflects who you are, it takes more than just the tech part. It's also about your story, your style, and the atmosphere you want to convey.

In this blog, I’ll walk you through everything else that plays a role — and how I can help you with that, step by step.

1. What do you actually want to express?

Before we type a single word or pick a colour, we talk about who you are, who your clients are, and what you want to express. That may sound abstract, but together we’ll make it concrete. Sometimes with examples, sometimes with visuals, sometimes with just a few words. Anything goes — as long as it feels right for you.

Tools I often use:

  • Moodboards in Canva or Pinterest
  • Examples of other websites
  • Loose keywords to define direction

2. Writing content: often harder than expected

Many clients find writing website content difficult — and that’s completely understandable. When it’s your own story, it’s often hard to express it clearly and attractively.

I’m happy to help with structure, tone, and flow. I can give you tips on what works or review whether your text aligns with the image you want to project. But the actual writing? I usually recommend hiring a professional copywriter for that.
If needed, I can recommend someone from my network who can translate your story into a clear and engaging message.

How much time does that take?

That depends on how much support you’d like. Sometimes, just half an hour to an hour is enough for feedback and guidance.

3. Visuals: more than just pretty pictures

The images on your site say a lot about you. Are you using stock photos or original photography? What’s the vibe you want to convey — warm, bold, cheerful, professional?

I can help you with:

  • Selecting visuals (your own or stock)
  • Creating a visual plan
  • Tips for a photoshoot or using Canva

So how does this work in practice?

The standard website package is based on tech, design, and basic alignment. If you'd like more guidance — for instance with content, visuals or tone — we can arrange that with an hourly rate or package deal.

My hourly rate is €80. Together we’ll assess how much time you need. Just a quick task? It can start from half an hour. Want to work more in-depth on your style and content? Then we’ll set clear agreements up front.

Final note

Creating a great website is a process. And it doesn’t have to be stressful — especially if you walk through it together. Got questions or want to know how such a process might look for you? Send me a message, I’d be happy to think along with you.
